How to Make a Duct Tape Dummy (DTD)

A DTD is essential for fullsuits and halfsuits. You'll need: duct tape, a protective suit for painting (recommended option), scissors, marker and a friend to help.

1. Put on suit as base for taping. 2. Have your friend wrap you in duct tape covering heels, part of hands and neck, carefully making sure that each piece of tape overlaps to prevent DTD from falling apart. 3. With marker, mark your knees, elbows and each cutting line with lines along it's entire lenght so that you can tape DTD correctly later, or so that we don't have any problems with it. 4. Carefully cut the DTD off. 5. Ship it to us!

Remember that DTD needs to be durable enough to not fall apart during work, while fitting your ordered parts on it, so make sure it's well made!

Caring for Your Fursuit

Proper care will extend the life of your fursuit significantly.

Body suit, feet and hand paws, tail:

1. Remove padding from the body suit or tail if it has removable stuffing. Place padding in separate bags and label them to avoid confusion during reassembly.

2. Turn the body suit inside out, and do the same for tail if possible. For any pieces that cannot be turned inside out, place them in a laundry bag or pillow case to protect the fur during washing.

3. Set the washing machine to COLD and GENTLE wash.

4. Use a gentle detergent, suitable for delicate fabrics.

5. Run the spin cycle to get as much water out of the fursuit parts as possible.

6. Brush every washed part and lay flat on a drying rack. Remember to brush everything every 2 to 3 hours to prevent fur from waving.

Caution:

Leaving fursuit to dry on the sun may fade or damage the fur. Always use cold water for washing your fursuit. Hanging the fursuit on a hanger while it's soaking wet may cause it to strech and loose its shape.

Head:

1. Spray the inside of the head with a disinfectant spray. Avoid spraying fursuit eyes directly, both inside and out.

2. Use a mix of water with gentle detergent. Dip a cloth towel into the mix and gently start washing the head.

3. Soak a fresh towel in clean water and rinse off soapy mix.

4. Use a dry towel to take out as much water as possible to speed up the process of drying.

5. Remember to brush the entire head before leaving it to dry. I recommend brushing it every 2 to 3 hours to prevent it from waving.

6. If possible, use fan to dry your head.

Caution:

Leaving head to dry on the sun may cause eyes to fade, or damage or fade the fur. Always use cold water for washing your fursuit.

Preparing Your Reference Sheet

A good ref sheet helps us bring your character to life accurately.

• Include front, side, and back views of your character. • Clearly label all colors. • Make sure your reference does not have shading. • Note any special markings, patterns, or features. • Reference needs to be in good quality and digital (no traditional art).

The more detail, the better — we love notes!
